9-11 June 2021 : 2nd Summer School of the DANUBIUS Project – “La prosopographie de l’Antiquité tardive : objets et méthodes” (initially scheduled on 9-11th of September 2020)

The DANUBIUS Project (ANR / I-SITE ULNE) will organise its second Summer School on the 9th-11th of June 2021, jointly with the EX-PATRIA Project (I-SITE ULNE), in association with the HALMA–UMR 8164 research centre (CNRS, Univ. Lille, MC), the Maison européenne des Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société (MESHS), the Doctoral School SHS Lille Nord de France, with the support of the the Hauts-de-France region and the Forum antique de Bavay archaeological museum. The event is primarily intended for doctoral students, but it is also open to Master students and to a wider audience. Its second edition will have the prosopography of Late Antiquity as its general theme.

This Summer School will offer various seminars led by the key authors of the Prosopographie chrétienne du Bas-Empire and by other scholars investigating Late Antique prosopographies. The speakers will share their experience, emphasizing questions of methodology. In addition, PhD students engaged in prosopographical projects will discuss their work. Participation in the three-day activities can be validated as part of a doctoral training – 7 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) – by the Doctoral School SHS Lille Nord de France. PhD students who are interested in such validation are kindly asked to inform the organisers in advance.

12-14 September 2019 : 1st Summer School of the DANUBIUS Project – “Archéologie des Balkans tardo-antiques”

The DANUBIUS project (ANR / I-SITE ULNE) will organise its first summer school on the 12th, 13th and 14th of September 2019, in collaboration with the HALMA–UMR 8164-research centre (CNRS, Univ. Lille, MC), the Maison européenne des Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société (MESHS) and the Doctoral School SHS Lille Nord de France. Intended primarily for PhD students, but also open to master’s students, even to all those interested in the activity, this first edition will focus on the archaeology of Late Antique Balkans.

This summer school will offer various seminars led by field directors, in Albania, Croatia, Kosovo, Serbia and Bulgaria, in which they will present their site, research programme and field experience. In addition, PhD students in Archeology, History and History of Art, whose dissertation topic is related to the general theme, will report on their work.
