In 2018, two French initiatives gathered the scientific community around the spatialised digital humanities: the HumaNS (Humanités numériques spatialisées) workshop, which was held within the SAGEO International Conference, and the workshop “Archéologie, histoire et analyse spatiale. Dialogue interdisciplinaire sur la question des SIG archéologiques et historiques”, organised within the framework of the Danubius Project, in collaboration with the Maison européenne des sciences de l’homme et de la société (MESHS) in Lille. The organisers of both activities have decided to join their forces to extend the reflections in a special issue of the journal Humanités Numérique, by publishing not only a selection of papers from the two workshops, but also new contributions.
